The Tender Jesus

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

This week we found this awesome person, Niclette. She is an international college student that is from the Kongo and she speaks 5 native languages and she knows the bible so well. She is very interested in the Book of Mormon, which I feel like never happens! She was an answer to our prayers. Elder McCabe and I have been praying for miracles and one morning we were talking about how many people we teach suck at keeping commitments and reading out of the Book of Mormon.  As bad as that sounds, it's true! lol, But, Elder McCabe said out loud, I wish we could just get someone that can understand literature really well and just has a true desire to learn. Literally, later that day, we get a media referral and it was Niclette! We meet with her later that day at the library to study the Book of Mormon with her.  She testifies right there in front of us that we are so lucky to have more testaments of Jesus Christ, like the Book of Mormon, and  Elder McCabe and I just look at each other like, "So, God is real huh, I had no idea!" That is one of the coolest things that happened this week. We meet with Niclette twice a week and she is praying about the Book of Mormon to feel for herself if it's true or not.

For those of you that know me pretty well, I really like things to be clean. If things get dirty, it stresses me out and I get in this cleaning mode.  Anyways, where I'm going with this is we went to this members house for dinner and HOLY COW! how do people just hold onto junk! It's so weird to me! This persons house was just filled with stuff.  Luckily the food tasted good, but I really wanted to clean out their house!! haha.

Something cool that I did this week was I made some stickers and I've been selling them to my zone.  I was able to design them because Elder McCabe has a laptop, which is super cool.  He's the social media missionary, so it's a nice perk for me! I'll put a picture of the stickers I made in my free time below. It helps me keep my sanity if I do something creative every now and then.

I want to share a quick spiritual thought. I've been reading this awesome book that my Grandma Bishop gave me called "Redeemer", by David Butler. In the book it goes through some of the names of Jesus Christ and it connects the meanings of the names to stories in the scriptures. The one I was reading about today was, The Tender Jesus. It talks about how Jesus loves everyone and that he does not love us for what we are or what we can do or have done. He loves us because we are His. I really love this because he leads into this scripture in Matthew chapter 9 in the New Testament. It's verses 36-38. In verse 38 it says, "pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest" This scripture is describing we don't have fishing lines in the water, we need more "Labourers" to speak the words of the Lord. So I invite all of you to be like Jesus Christ and invite an inactive member over for dinner and be their friend or maybe you have a good friend that isn't religous and you can invite them to church. Just be someones friend this week. Make those good positive interactions with people. Make sure to PRAY for them too!  Elder McCabe and I did, and it worked! So, I know that it will work for you too. In the name of Jesus Christ AAAAMEN!

You will hear from me next week!
 Love you all!
-Elder Bishop
