Bye Elder McBabe

Dad joke: Why is diarrhea hereditary? Because it runs in the jeans  The reason why I'm telling this Dad Joke is because it fits really well with this week, I got the "runs in my jeans" because Elder McCabe is no longer my companion!  (Sad face)  He is going to Oroville, and I'm staying here in Chico. I love Elder McCabe! He is the absolute best! Even though he hated my terrible jokes that never make sense, he is still the best. Good luck to Elder McCabe! I will miss him. My new companion is Elder Strauss, and I won't meet him until Wednesday.  I have a request from whoever is reading this email. There's a lady that we are teaching named Phan. We haven't been able to teach her in a couple weeks because she is very sick and she doesn't think that she will make it through the week. Please pray for Phan! Sorry guys, but this week was super lame and boring and nothing very exciting happend, so I'll share a little spiritual thought.  Someone that we are ...

The Tender Jesus

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good week. This week we found this awesome person, Niclette. She is an international college student that is from the Kongo and she speaks 5 native languages and she knows the bible so well. She is very interested in the Book of Mormon, which I feel like never happens! She was an answer to our prayers. Elder McCabe and I have been praying for miracles and one morning we were talking about how many people we teach suck at keeping commitments and reading out of the Book of Mormon.  As bad as that sounds, it's true! lol, But, Elder McCabe said out loud, I wish we could just get someone that can understand literature really well and just has a true desire to learn. Literally, later that day, we get a media referral and it was Niclette! We meet with her later that day at the library to study the Book of Mormon with her.  She testifies right there in front of us that we are so lucky to have more testaments of Jesus Christ, like the Book of Mormon...

I received this message from a sister, Alicia Walter’s in Spencer’s mission. She fed him dinner for the second time and wanted to send me a picture. She has mentioned in both messages to me that he is very polite and well mannered and has a healthy appetite. Lol! This sister is a quilter so Spencer told her all about my fabric shop!

Hello again! We had a long week but a lot of good things happened! We started off the week going to a temple Endowment session for Brian Carol, a recent convert down in Antelope where Elder McCabe used to serve.  We had to get permission from our mission president to go to the temple because it's out of our mission. But, you know the temple is always an awesome experience, you can always feel the spirit in the temple, and for the first time I didn't fall asleep in the endowment session haha. We spent so much time in the car that day because it's like a little over 2 hours to get to the temple, so it was a long day, but we had a lot of fun! We also had Zone Conference down in Yuba City! It was cool to drive into my last area I served in. Elder McCabe and I were an hour late. It was funny because we had it scheduled for 11 a while ago, Elder McCabe put it in the schedule a while ago thinking it was at that time for some reason so we showed up at the building at 10 because Eld...

Hello friends! The work keeps getting better and better! My other companion, Elder Cabazos, has gone home early and  Elder McCabe and I really miss him.  He is the life of the party and can always make you laugh, never had more memorable memories than with him! This week Elder McCabe and I have been cranking out pure awesomeness! We had an amazing baptism for Sophia Harrison on Saturday.  She is 14 years old and has a very strong testimony. I look forward to keep seeing her progress in her life! We brought Matthew, someone we are teaching, to the baptism. He really felt like he needed to be there and he really loved the baptism! Matthew is 15 and is such a sweetheart and talks to everyone.  He and I share a birthday, which is this Friday!  Elder McCabe and I are gonna buy him a Raiders beanie and give it to him because that's the only thing he wants for his birthday. We really want to make his day!  We found 2 new people to teach, Anita and Anthony. Prior t...

Vegemite Do Be Pretty Gross Doe

Hello everyone! It's me again! Sorry I keep sending these late, I always procrastinate these until the very end of the day or sometimes later than that, but I always write them or else my mom would kill me! This week was pretty normal, nothing too exciting, but there were a couple things that did happen. First, I was called Saturday morning to give a talk on Sunday, the next day, and I was like... "Well, I guess." lol. I was really nervous to give this talk and I prepared a 12 min talk about missionary work and felt ok about it. But, I still felt like it was gonna be flop. And little did I know that there was going to be a ton of non-members there and I was like crap, a lot of words and the message I'm gonna give today is not gonna make sense to the non-members. Elder McCabe told me in the car on the way over, " Elder Bishop there is gonna be a lot of non members today at church, so make sure you talk in a way so they can understand" I was not excited becaus...
