I Moved Again

Image
Hello, As you can tell from the title, I moved areas again! lol, I am now in Gulfview Heights, it's still in the same zone as Playford and pretty close to Adelaide.  I have been emergency transferred to be a Zone Leader with Elder McBride. That's three flats and 3 companions in the first 9 days of being in Aussie. Pretty crazy, right?  I'm getting really good and packing my suitcase, lol. As far as the flats go here, they are all nicer than the ones I had in California.  Right now I am living in a house instead of an apartment.  The heater is broken, so it's pretty chilly in the morning when I wake up.  We have a space heater, so we are using that to keep us warm.  The winter months are upon us here in the Downunder.  I had to say goodbye to my last companion Elder Hannant; I'm going to miss him.  He is a great missionary from Brisbane. We did a lot of good things! We put a whole family on date to be baptized!  We were teaching...

PLAYFORD MY LADS!

Image
Hello lads! Sorry for sending this out late again but ya know, I've sent it out late every week, so got to keep the streak. It has been a weird first week here. So, you all know I was companions with Elder Holt, probably one of, or my favorite companions I've ever had! But then, just as soon as I emptied my suitcase, I got ET! (emergency transferred) to a different area and changed my companion to Elder Hannant.  Elder Hannant is also a very good companion as well, we get along very well and he's a very hard worker. He is from Brisbane and is on the last few months of his mission like Elder Holt. It was a fun 3 days with Elder Holt and I'm gonna miss him. We worked really hard out in the bush and had a fun time together.  Back to the weirdness! We got a call, just this morning, from our mission president saying their is gonna be some leadership changes and Elder Hannant got dropped from district leader and now I'm the district leader!  Whaat?  It has been such a...

The Lads Of Berri

Aye Mates! Good day! I am In Aussie!!!!! So excited to be here!! Sorry for the big delay on this email. While traveling I was so out of it, that 25 hours was just a blur. lol If any of you guys are wondering if a 15 hour flight is fun, think twice, it was crappy lol. But, I met a lot of missionaires going to different parts in Australia which was fun but I was dying to get out of the airport, couldn't be there any longer. The flight from LA to Sydney was a haul!  After arriving in Sydney, I still had take another flight to Adelaide.  My last days in California were great.  The awesome Mattern family had a little diner for me to say goodbye, which was so kind.  I was able to go visit my friends that I've been teaching and tell them goodbye too.  Kunal, my friend from 7-11 is on date to be baptized in July, so I will miss that great event, but I'm so happy for him.  The ward mission leader ended up taking me to Roseville to meet up with some other elders....

Welcome Elder Bishop

Dear Family of Elder Bishop:   Elder Spencer James Bishop has arrived in the Australia Adelaide Mission safely. Sister Johansson and I are mindful of the great trust you have placed in us by sharing your son with us. When he arrived, he was met at the airport, and was taken to the mission office to be introduced to the senior missionary couple office staff and assistants to the president for orientation and photographs.   Elder Bishop’s companion is Elder Holt. They are serving in the Berri area of the Mosiah Zone. We are including a picture of Elder Bishop with President and Sister Johansson arriving here in the Australia Adelaide Mission .      For the Australia Adelaide Mission, preparation day is on Monday. In keeping with the Missionary Department Communicating with Families policy change announced in February 2019:   “Missionaries are authorized to communicate with their families each week on preparation day via text messages, online messaging, phone ...

Traveling To Australia

1. Spence and Elder Riley Shelton.  He went through the temple with this elder.  He spent his last day in the mission with him in Roseville before he went to the airport.   2.  Posted on FB from Martha Johannson, the mission president's wife.  They called it the Arrivers dinner.  All the new missionaries to land in Adelaid that day.  This was the first communication we received from Australia to know he was  alive.  3. Martha Johannson sent this the same day. She sent it with this message: "We are so blessed to be serving alongside these beautiful missionaries.  Gidday from Adelaide Australia ..President and I couldn't stop smiling..we had a total of 13 missionaries arrive yesterday..our largest group of arrivals since we arrived a year ago..I'm sure jet lag will hang around for a few days"

Yvonne

Hey Dudes! I only have 7 days till I leave for Aussie and I'm super pumped!! My suitcase is mostly packed and I've been wearing the same 3 ties for awhile so I dont' have to unpack anything else.  Lol This week kinda sucked, not gonna lie. Our car had to go in for repair and we don't have bikes so we are on foot and our area is massive. So the work has been a little challenging. Half of our lessons fell through as well. Big sad. But, on the good side, we had one really good lesson. We are teaching this lady named Yvonne and we taught her about the word of wisdom and she loved it! She drinks coffee, wine, and smokes and she said it answered a lot of her questions and is getting herself ready to follow it and be ready to change! We are really excited for her and her journey following Jesus Christ! One more thing, Elder Strauss and I were called to be the hype men for our zone group chat, we hype everyone up! To do this, we send in motivational videos, funny pics and we se...
