New Tongan Companion!
Oh my gosh! So sorry everyone! I've been so terrible at writing my emails the past bit, lol.
There's lots to catch you guys up on…
We had transfers and yo boi is still staying in Gulfview Heights! It will be over seven months here after this transger I had mixed feelings at first but now that I'm a couple of weeks in, it's been great. I have a new companion Elder Tu’itavake. He is from Tonga. I'm getting fat! This boy likes to eat! He says I don’t eat enough… Mate…he trippin balls!! I know he likes to eat more than me. I'm the cook in the house, so when I make him his plate, I put more on his plate than on mine and then he comes to get his food and he takes the smaller plate and tells me to eat the big one, since he thinks I'm not eating enough! Sheesh! I guess I'll be making two small plates to keep my figure.
Ok so, i’ll get all the highlights in. The last week with Elder Montmeny was great! We met with so many members so he could say goodbye to all of them, so we had some fun filled days. It was fun! I was so sad to see Elder Montmeny go! It was a good 2 transfers. He is quirky and I loved his repetitive gospel jokes! I sure love the guy! Good Luck to Elder Montmeny in the NT in Alice Springs!
I got to go to the temple again! I'm lucky to go again. My companion hasn’t gone yet, so I got to go! Woohoo! It was a good time! Always a great peace and silence in the temple. And a great place to seek revelation and get answers to your questions. You feel very close to your Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ while you are there. It’s a great time. Especiallly when the old guys (and myself) fall asleep during a session, haha!
On Sunday we weren't expecting any of our friends to come to church but all the sudden we see this random guy sitting down in the back. We talked to him after the meeting. We discovered that he is dating a member of our church online and is reading the Book of Mormon. WOW! Miracle! So, we got his number and are trying to start teaching him. It's hard around this Christmas season, but we will keep at it.
Then the next week! Oh my goodness what a week! So first, our SIM card broke. The church department over the phones accidently canceled our number, so we didn’t have a phone number for a couple days. LOL. So we used a pay phone haha, it was free phone calls. It was difficult but it’s ok, made the best of it. We got our SIM card back that Friday on that week and then our car broke down twice in one day because of the battery. BRUH MOMENT. It made for a really long day and lots of roadside assistance but luckly right where our car broke down we felt promped to knock the street we were on. We found this sweet lady that answered the door and her name is Veronica. She has been investigating all of these churches and hasn’t liked any of them, so she is interested in talking with us to see what we are all about. Cool miracle! The evening, when we finally got the car working with a new battery, we contacted our friend Paul that we haven’t met with in ages and he was home and we had a lesson with him. The next day we had a ward christmas party and he Paul said he wanted to come and he came! The members invited him to church and he came and he loved it! He wants to come to church every week now! Yesssss. Paul is the man. We are so excited for him. Side note, it was a little strange to have a Christmas party that's a BBQ outside and it was super hot! I totally had on my shades. Christmas will be a bit warmer for me this year!
This week I was able to pick up my Christmas box from the Mission Home. As a Zone Leader on Tuesdays, I visit the mission home to pick up any mail for missionaries and I deliver it to them the next day at District Council. It was fun to get a box from home. My mom sent a flat tree to hang up and sent pictures to hang up on the tree as ornaments. She wrapped a gift for me to open each day of the month with a scripture to give a clue for what was inside. So far I have opened up socks, homemade carmels, a Snow College T-shirt, some water flavoring for my water bottle, letters from home from all my cousins and grandparents, notebooks and work gloves. I'll attach a picture so you can see it.
I hope you are all enjoying this Christmas season!
Love,
-Elder Bishop
