I'm A Cripple
Holy cow! It's been too long! I'm gonna get straight into it.
So transfers...
I got transfered out of Gulfview Heights! It was sad leaving all of the members and a couple of people we were teaching, but it was time to leave the area. I had been there 7.5 months and it was enough
There was something cool that happend on my last day in Gulfview heights, a cool little miracle. We set up an appointment Paul. I really wanted to say goodbye to him before I left because I had been working with him for so long. We had become really good friends. We had expected to just say goodbye and chat for a bit, but I felt that we should teach him when we got there. I decided to teach him the third lesson. The gosple of Jesus Christ and we talked about Baptism. I rebrought it up because he had mentioned that baptism is something he wanted to do. He had told me while he was at church, he would think about baptism. He said he felt guilty at church because he wasn't baptized yet. I asked him if setting a date for baptism would help him to have something to work towards, and he said March 25th! The day after his birthday! It was really awesome to see him make that goal and I'm so excited for him.
Now I'm in the Onkaparinga Ward in the Marion Stake. I'm still close to the mission home and the temple. I'm closer to the beach now. I'm just South of it now, instead of North of it. My new companion is Elder Siania! He's a top G! He's a very cool elder from Melbourne, Australia. He's a convert to the church with a strong testimony. He joined the church at the age of 15, and about a year later, his entire family joined the church with him. He is originally from Samoa. He's been out about half the time as me, so about 8-9 months. I feel so old in the mission. I'm now one of the oldest in the mission and I felt like I was one of the yongest like yesterday. Time on the mission flys way too fast. I think this is the best ward I have ever been apart of in my entire mission, no cap. Our ward Mission leader used to be the Stake President. He is the coolest and so helpful. The first week of the transfer was great! We were working our bunda's (Samoan word for butt : ) off and then we had our ward sports night on Friday night a week after transfers. We were playing basketall. I was balling it up like Lebron James and then all the sudden my balling skills went to about as good as nothing because I pulled a Gordon Hayward coming down from the rebound. I sprained my ankle pretty bad!
The next day I was at the ER for 4 hours. Soooo long! I got some pain killers and the Knights, one of senior couples shouted us some KFC! Tops G's right there! KFC is very popular here. So the past couple weeks have been the slowest, and worst 2 weeks of my whole mission. I have been SO BORED! This dumb ankle has put the work of the Lord to shame. It's my right foot, so I'm not able to drive, so they took our car away since my companion can not drive. I was not able to walk at all for atleast 5 days either, so we just sat in the apratment. I got a blessing the night after the ER and the blessing said I would heal up fine and I would be walking soon. A week later, we are still waiting for my ankle to heal and I said, Elder! give me another blessing. I was like, "The Lord better heal me right now or else im going to lose my mind!" The blessing said by the end of the next week i would be able to walk and I was like FETCH! ANOTHER WEEK! Elder Siania just wanted say "Be Healed" like Jesus Christ would in the New Testament, but the Spirt wouldn't let him. So far it's looking like I will be able to walk by Sunday. Fingers crossed!
I've really enjoyed all the extra time I've gotten to study though, it's been great. I have learned a lot of good things. The Lord really provided the past 2 weeks as well. We were able to find 3 people still. The Lord gave us self and online refferals. It was great. Our friend Dylan, a friend of a recent convert, came to church and he said he liked it so we got an appointment with him this coming Saturday which is great. We still managed to get people to church and all that good stuff. The Lord provided big time! Even a cripple can serve the Lord!
Send me a letter and let me know how you are doing! I'd love to hear from any of you! Hopefully, I will be on my feet very soon! Have a great week.
Love,
Elder Bishop
