Branch President And Wife Ian And Samanth McKay
G'day, Brother and Sister Bishop. My name is Ian McKay, and I am the branch president here in Berri Branch, where Elder Bishop has been serving for the last few transfers. We are a small branch around 3hrs North East of Adelaide and currently apart from the Elders, I am the only Priesthood holder, so you can imagine just how valuable our missionary elders are to us.
At about 9.30 last night I recieved a call from Elder Bishop to let us know of the result of transfer calls for missionaries and we were terribly sad to hear that Elder Bishop has been transferred to another area for his last few weeks of his mission before her returns home to you.
As the father of a current serving elder, I know how good it feels to hear reports from the mission field about our kids and what they are getting up to. To this end, I just wanted to send you this message.
Elder Bishop is certainly an amazing man and a fantastic missionary, I would even go as far as to say he is among the best we have had here in the branch in the 7 years I have been here as the branch president.
He is always such a happy face and does The Lord's work with such passion and conviction that it is close on impossible to not feel of his love for the gospel and the work he does. The missionary work has gone forward exponentially since he has been in this area, and I know that the next elder coming to the area has massive shoes to fill.
Elder Bishop is a credit to you and brother Bishop, and you should be very proud of him and the man he has become. I just know that as he returns home, he will have many great responsibilities placed before him, and he will rise to the challenge, whatever that may be.
Again, we will miss him and his dedication to the branch, but I know that he is simply needed elsewhere for the next few weeks.
I hope you are all well and are counting down the days until he flies home.
Love to you all
